Mishmi Hills are on the Northeastern tip of India, in central Arunachal Pradesh. The hills are a southward extension of the Great Himalayan ranges and its northern and eastern parts touch China. Geomorphically, Mishmi Hills are divided into 2 sections – the flood plains of tributaries of Bramhaputra river and the Arunachal Himalayas consisting of snow capped mountains, lower Himalayan ranges and Shivalik ranges. This hilly area is characterised by steeply sloping landform, sub-tropical evergreen forest and high rainfall. Much of these hills fall in the Dibang valley. There are about 6000 plant species, 100 mammal species and about 680 bird species. There are also a large number of butterflies and insects. Temperate conifer, sub-Alpine woody shrub, Alpine meadow, bamboo and grasslands are found in this region.

These 7 days were indeed memorable in all aspects. As a nature and wildlife lover, I really could not expect more than being in the arms of Mother Nature at an altitude as high as 8,600 feets. Passing through mist, fog and clouds, experiencing the snow fall in an extremely chilled weather, photographing the tiny winged beauties in the falling snow has indeed been an experience to be remembered.
