Entangled...

This happens to be a classic picture of human intervention in wild life.

During my trip to Mysore, I could manage to take some time (with due permission from my wife) and bade a visit to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary. This is hardly few kilometres from Mysore city and surely a must visit place for any wildlifer if you are in Mysore. Enjoyed the early morning boat ride in the cool weather. Could see Oriental Ibis or Black Headed Ibis in huge numbers as it was their nesting time.

With the boat heading more in the deep, I could see a darter busy dipping his beak in the water. On close look, I could see a fisherman’s net getting entangled in his beak and I guess the attempt was to get rid of that net from his beak so that he is set free from the discomfort. Initially was puzzled to the fact that Ranganathittu happens to be a protected zone wherein fishing is surely not permissible. Probably it could be from another water body wherein this darter must have visited earlier.

Requested the boat driver to take a bit near so that we could free the helpless but as we moved ahead, the darter got uncomfortable. With few attempts, he flew away from that place.
